I'm jealous of people who can jump all over the various instances of Medium. I haven't developed a mental model to understand it yet. I've been using the me.dm instance: https://me.dm/@walterrhein. I've really enjoyed it so far. There seem to be so many really bright people on there, which is a big change from other social media sites.

One of my friends once received one of those emails from a Prince who "wanted to give away his millions." The Prince had my name... of all things. We had a good laugh about that. However, any instance where people try to steal your identity to scam others is serious business. Glad you got it sorted out.

I am so happy with that sign off. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be back in 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Also, glad the migration was quick! How did you get your tabs to link outside substack? Is that on the substack settings or do you have to do it on your website backend?

First, welcome to Substack. I’ve had my newsletter here since early 2022 and think it’s a great platform. The Writer Office Hours chat each Thursday at 1 PM Eastern is a great place to ask questions or discover other writers whose newsletters interest you. This Thursday is the monthly Shoutout thread, where writers give shoutouts to other writers’ newsletters they love.

Second, thanks for sharing your new Mastodon link; I just followed you. Sorry to hear you keep getting hacked and impersonated.

Finally, thanks for the work you put into making The Writing Cooperative such a great Medium publication. I’m glad you’re more selective than many others about the content you publish!

I still haven't had a compelling enough reason to migrate to me.dm. Journa.host works fine for my purposes, though the local server tends to be mostly politics, and thus, I don't engage with it.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Justin. I totally feel you on the spam and impersonation issues. It's tough to know who to trust online sometimes. Moving to a new platform can be stressful, but I'm glad you found beige.party!
